Notes: Titus 2:9

Commentary

Urge bondslaves to be subject to their own masters in everything, to be well-pleasing, not argumentative, (Titus 2:9)

Slaves and servants are to be obedient in everything their masters ask them to do.  An example of a slave who was converted was Onesimus, the slave of Philemon.  Both men were believers, yet the bond issue still remained between them.

In 1865, the 13th Amendment was added to the United States constitution.  That amendment abolished slavery and involuntary servitude within the United States.

Salvation does not automatically negate your earthly obligations.  Newly saved employees don’t suddenly become the bosses in a company.

As a servant, paid or unpaid, your are to fulfill your obligations to the satisfaction of your master and do so without arguing.
