When I send Artemas or Tychicus to you, make every effort to come to me at Nicopolis, for I have decided to spend the winter there. (Titus 3:12)
It appears that Paul has arranged replacements for Titus so that he, Titus, may take a sabbatical to visit with Paul. Tychicus is mentioned elsewhere as a companion (Acts 20:4) and as a “beloved brother and faithful minister” (Eph 6:21).
We don’t know why Paul desired Titus to come to Nicopolis. But the request was urgent. Sometimes God has other plans that we do not understand. The call to service does not always entail the same actions for the remainder of our lives. Often God moves us around, places us where we can best serve him NOW.
