Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus according to the commandment of God our Savior, and of Christ Jesus, who is our hope, (1 Timothy 1:1)
The author of this epistle, Paul, begins by making very clear the position and authority under which he has written.
His position is that of apostle of Christ. He is to be an ambassador of the Gospel to the world.
His authority comes by decree, or commandment, from God the Father, supreme magistrate of all that is, and author of our salvation (Hebrews 5:9), in complete agreement with the Son, the Messiah, Christ Jesus, in whom all our expectations lie, in whom all our confidence is bestowed, and only by whom, our hope exists.
