For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine; (1 Timothy 1:10)
The law applies to those who engage not only in homosexual sins but also heterosexual sins. In the previous verse, we saw that sin leads to physical death. Here sin causes the death of intimacy and relationship.
The law applies to slave traders. Man belongs to God. It is sin to buy and sell that which does not belong to you. Sin leads to the death of "freedom".
The law applies to those that lie, or rather, those that speak contrary to what they believe to be right in an attempt to deceive. Sin leads to the death of "truth".
The law applies to those that bear false witness. Sin leads to the death of "justice".
The law applies to any behavior, action, or thought that runs contrary to sound doctrine.
God alone is the ultimate source of justice, truth, freedom, and intimacy. The freedom, justice, truth and intimacy that comes under the law, by God’s mercy, is merely a reflection of the freedom, justice, truth, and intimacy that comes to the believer by God’s grace.
