I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service, (1 Timothy 1:12)
For those that think preaching and teaching does not measure up to the work of lawyers and doctors, this passage reveals a stark contrast in thought in Paul’s mind.
He is thankful, the Christ would bestow on Paul, the honor of full time ministry.
Paul acknowledges that his ability to minister is not of the flesh, but comes from the Lord who has strengthened him. A minister who believes that his ministry rises or falls based upon his own merits will undoubtedly see the latter in the end.
