Therefore I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and dissension. (1 Timothy 2:8)
Having made a case for the importance and purpose of prayer, Paul calls on the men to prayer everywhere. Prayer is not to be limit in its focus (pray for all me) nor should it be limited in its location.
The lifting of hands is a sign of surrender and brokenness. It denotes the requesters proper understanding of position.
When we pray, we are not to mix our personal feelings of anger with our prayers. We should pray for our enemy, but keep our emotions in check.
Our prayers should not be a platform to break up the body, to cause dissension.
