Found a USPS package on the front porch this morning. It was the shipment of discs I’d ordered from Disc Golf Center. In the shipment was my first non-DX disc, an Innova Leopard.
Anna and I took off for Village Green in Peachtree City for 2 quick 9-hole rounds.
Now, I’ve been driving with my Cobra Dx. It has taken quite a beating since I bought it back in May, but it remains a very reliable disc. When it gives up the ghost, it is one of those “must replace” molds.
The very first throw off Tee #1 landed just past the cart path, left. A short lay up with the Wolf and a clean putt. Holes #2 thru #4 were nothing spectacular. Hole #5 is one of the longer fairways on the course. The Leopard flew up the hill nicely and a double putt for 3.
We finished off the round and decided to play another round.
We got around to the 4rth tee and the bottom let out. It was from here on out that the PRO plastic shined. Without a towel to clean all the dirt and water, the DX discs were difficult to control. But the as the PRO plastic got wet, it became easier to handle. A big difference over the DX plastic.
This is an extremely stable disc. It launches very fast with a speed rating of 6. Not the fastest disc in your bag, but fast nonetheless. While it is rated a -2 on turn, fresh out of the box seems more like a 0 or a -1 at most. I’m hoping as it wears in, the -2 will emerge. It has almost no fade when thrown correctly. The 6+5 combination makes this a great little driver.
